Who we are

C.R. Davis III & Sons Pest Control is a family business. Crupert Davis III and Rose M. Davis started it on March 3, 2003, and the Davis family still owns and runs it. It is not owned by a national chain or a private equity firm.

We work out of one headquarters at 153 Silver Springs Rd in Phoenixville. The building sits in East Pikeland Township, Chester County, even though the mail says Phoenixville. From there we serve homes and businesses across Chester County, Montgomery County and Delaware County.

What family owned means when you hire us

For a customer, family ownership mostly matters after the first visit.

If an inspection missed something or a follow-up did not happen, the complaint goes to the business that did the work, and the people who own that business answer for it. There is no outside parent company or investor group above them.

Every town we serve uses the same phone number, (610) 935-9130, and it reaches C.R. Davis III & Sons. You do not need a different number for a different town.

A termite inspection in spring, a wasp nest in August and mice in November are handled by the same business under the same name. When you call back, you reach the company that holds your service history.

Licensed and insured in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania does not let a business apply pesticides for hire without a pesticide application business license from the Department of Agriculture. C.R. Davis III & Sons holds that license in two categories: Household and Health Related, which covers pest work in and around homes, food handling businesses and institutions, and Wood Destroying Pests, which covers termites, powderpost beetles and other wood-destroying pests in a home. We are also insured.

Our licensing and insurance page explains how the state license works, what technician training the rules require, and how to look up any pest control company in the Department of Agriculture's public records.

What we do

We provide pest control year-round for houses, apartments and commercial properties. That includes termites and other wood-destroying insects, mice and rats, cockroaches, bed bugs, ants and carpenter ants, stinging insects, and the seasonal invaders that move into Pennsylvania homes every fall. The full list, grouped by type, is on our pest control services page.

For businesses and property owners, see our commercial pest control service. For real estate, we write wood-destroying insect reports for buyers, sellers and agents. See our real estate WDI inspection page for what those reports cover.

Where we work

Our service area covers Chester County, Montgomery County and Delaware County, organized around two areas. Phoenixville, where our headquarters is, covers the Schuylkill River and Route 422 corridor, including Pottstown, Collegeville, Norristown and King of Prussia. We also serve West Chester, PA and the towns to its south and west, such as Downingtown, Coatesville, Kennett Square and Media, PA. Our West Chester location is coming soon. The service area page lists every town page.

How we work on every job

Every visit follows the same four steps, which we call The Davis Inspection Standard. First, we identify the species before anything is applied. Second, we find and name the conducive conditions, such as moisture, wood touching soil or gaps where pests get in. Third, we place treatment where the pest lives, as the label directs. Fourth, we set a follow-up and tell you the re-entry and prep instructions up front.

We keep them in that order because a treatment chosen before the pest is identified is a guess, and a treatment that ignores a leaking pipe or a mulch bed against the sill tends to come back. Our inspection process page walks through each step and what to expect on a first visit.

Questions to ask before you hire a pest company

Termite protection, rodent exclusion and seasonal plans run over months or years and depend on someone keeping track of your house, so it is fair to ask any company who owns it.

A company owned by the people who run it answers to its customers directly. A company owned by a larger parent or investor answers to them as well, and its policies, service menu and even its name can change when ownership changes. Ownership alone does not make service good or bad, but you should know which kind of company you are hiring. These questions help with any company:

  • Who owns the company, and where is it based?
  • Is the business licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, and in which categories? You can check the public record yourself.
  • Will the person who comes to your house be a certified applicator or a registered technician trained in that category?
  • Will they identify the pest and explain the conducive conditions before they treat?
  • What follow-up is planned, and what are the re-entry and prep instructions for the product they use?

We serve Chester County, Montgomery County and Delaware County from there, and our West Chester location is coming soon. Call (610) 935-9130 for any town we serve.

Do you work with businesses as well as homeowners?

Yes. We serve residential and commercial customers year-round. Commercial customers are businesses and property owners who need pests such as cockroaches, rodents and flies kept under regular watch. We also write wood-destroying insect reports for real estate transactions, which buyers, sellers and agents use during a home sale.

Why does it matter who owns a pest control company?

Many pest services run over months or years, such as termite monitoring, rodent exclusion and seasonal plans. The owner decides how the company handles follow-ups, complaints and service changes. When ownership changes hands, those policies can change too. Asking who owns the company, where it is based and whether it is licensed in the right categories tells you who stands behind the work.

We identify the species before anything is applied, find and name the conducive conditions such as moisture or entry gaps, place treatment where the pest lives as the label directs, and set a follow-up while telling you the re-entry and prep instructions up front. Our process page explains each step.
